Do you have to be debt free to be a full time missionary?

    Do you have to be debt free to be a full time missionary?

    I heard that you have to be debt free to be a fulltime missionary is this true?  One of my friends is looking into this but i did not have an answer.

    You do not have to be debt free. However, a debt to earnings ratio is reviewed. There is a point that at times, it is recommended the potential missionary candidate delay or defer applying until the ratio can be reduced.
